Attached are four letters from the 40's. 1, 2, and 3 are from when dad
assumed command of the Mataco from Cecil Hall on 22 Nov, 1944. The 4th is
from 9 Oct, 1946, when dad passed command to L.L. Reynolds.
I also attached a photo of dad on the Mataco with his dog Skip. This photo
has also been in the Towline.
One photo on already your site shows the Mataco with an unidentified ship. I
have since identified that ship as the USS Gamble (DM-15). I'm attaching
another view of the Gamble along side the Mataco. The last attachment (for
now) is a copy of 2 pages from the Mataco's "Captain's Night Orders" log. The
log I have was started by Captain C.O. Hall on June 9, 1943 and goes through
27 June 1945. I scanned two pages from the log during the time the Gamble was
being towed.
I'll look for more stuff that might be useful.
Bruce
